The Technical side Link to heading

I have a huge project in the works with Ryan and James. I hope it will be out on arxiv before I head off to NYC on May 14th. It’s so exciting that I am spending a lot of time in Lab making sure I get measurements in and getting clean data. The computational projects using DFT or my readings have been pushed out of the way to get this project through. I don’t fully understand the project either…

I’m going to continue getting my project up and running and truly understand it well. I’m also trying to get better at coding for experiments. Simple things like graphing the data take me a while but take Ryan a very short time. I hope to spend some more time next month creating a more efficient workflow with regards to experiment.

However, I am still learning and enjoying my python course, AY250. It’s helped me become a better coder overall and I’m excited to see the final project as it is supposed to be directly related to my research.

One thing I want to work towards is have more time to chase learning in fundamental physics.

The Softer Side Link to heading

Getting closer to friends while playing Taiko. I’m not too close to the graduate students in my research group but I enjoy hanging out with them everyday. It’s a chore trying to juggle all of my social obligations but I am always able to make time to make music or Taiko.

I’m really looking forward to going off to NYC (for my undergraduate graduation!) and Japan in May. My parents are meeting my girlfriend of three years so that’s exciting haha. `

My Accomplishments Link to heading

  1. Have (some) confidence in troubleshooting experiments

  2. Saw a glimpse of the projects that will make up my PhD

  3. Got into a regular pattern with the students I am mentoring and feeling like we are succeeding.
